Story:
Giles Corey is more than 80 years old, but strong and brave. He refuses to say “guilty” or “not guilty.” He believes the court is unfair.
The judges punish him using “pressing.” He is placed on the ground. A wide board is put on top of him. Heavy stones are added, one by one. The court hopes he will speak to stop the pain.
For three days he says almost nothing. When asked to confess, he famously says, “More weight.” His courage makes some people question the court’s actions.
